Park system is a Linn County treasure

I, together with my children and my parents, experienced the new Morgan Creek County Park development on the west side of Cedar Rapids on June 2. This new park development features water quality projects, land and natural resources protections, outdoor recreational amenities including a new one-of-a-kind playground, and the continued development of our community trails. My kids enjoyed the new playground immensely. What a community asset!
This $6.2 million project was funded in part with $3 million from Linn County Water and Land Legacy (LCWLL) bonds. In 2016, Linn County voters showed resounding support by passing the LCWLL bonds with 74 percent voting in favor. Other grants and donations from a lot of community partners were leveraged and helped fund this exciting new park development.
Many thanks go out to the Linn County Board of Supervisors and the County Conservation Board and staff for their vision and follow-through to bring this new park development to a reality. We want to thank the Linn County community for the overwhelming LCWLL bond support and thank the many businesses and private donors to this project.
Morgan Creek County Park and the County Park system is truly a community treasure. Please get out and enjoy nature!
