Michael “Mike” James Novak, 63, of Linn County, died Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital. Services: 6 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at Teahen Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday after 5 p.m. prior to the service.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Novak of Cedar Rapids; son, Brandon Novak of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Madison Novak of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Deb Swearingen of Cedar Rapids and Terrie Novak of Denver, Colo.; and brother, Keith Novak of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike was born on Nov. 29, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, the son of James and Peggy Scanland Novak. He attended Harding Middle School and graduated in 1977 from Kennedy High School. On September 19, 1981 Mike married Kimberly Irons in Cedar Rapids. Mike and Kim later parted ways in 2018, but always cared and supported each other. He was an electrician for many years.
Mike enjoyed mowing, traveling, being outdoors and fast cars, especially his beloved 1978 Trans Am. He loved his family and his biggest reason for living was being with his granddaughter “Fleet”. Mike will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
