Carol Lee Ness, 77, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on March 14, 2022, following complications from Covid -19. Memorial services will be held on June 7, 2022. Family and friends will be greeted at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home at 10am for visitation, prior to graveside service at 11 a.m.
Carol was born March 3, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Joseph and Helen (Brim) Hugenel, where she grew up, graduated for Jefferson High School and married Gary D. Brown. She worked at Rockwell Collins until her retirement. She was every active with the union and safety committees, where she acquired multiple acquaintances and lifelong friends. Carol remarried in June 1989 to Ronald W. Ness, and resided in Marion, Iowa, following. She enjoyed ceramics, tennis, her luck at the casinos and spending time with family and friends. She loved her numerous fishing trips to Northern Minnesota and visits to Florida. She was active with her Red Hat Group monthly, organized family dinners and outings with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, which included every book Danielle Steel wrote. She touched many lives over her years and will be dearly missed.
Carol was survived by her children, Tracey Martin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Christopher Brown (Shelly) of Center Point, Iowa; grandchildren, Colton Martin of Houston, Texas, Jenna Martin of Fort Collins, Colo., and Adam Brown of Center Point, Iowa; sisters, Patricia Achey and Peggy Hugenel; multiple nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; spouses, Gary D. Brown and Ronald W. Ness; sister, Nancy McLaughlin; and brothers, Raymond and Larry Hugenel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family. Donation to be made to Fur Fun Pet Rescue.
