Ruth Lenore Bice Arnold, 98, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday May 29, 2022. Graveside services are set for 1 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In addition, a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Aug. 5, at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, with visitation at 1 p.m., service at 1:30 p.m., and reception at 2:15 p.m.

Survivors include her sons, John Martin Arnold of Bloomington, Ind., and Steven Robert Arnold of Vinton, Iowa.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and her sisters, Jean Wilkins, Virginia Manson, and Joan Underwood.

Ruth was born Sept. 6, 1923, in Walker, Iowa, the daughter of Martin and Virginia (Fitzgarrald) Bice.

She graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids in 1940 at age 16, where she enjoyed music, dance and academics. After that she attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids.

She married Robert C. Arnold on Feb. 22, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ruth was very devoted to her family. She was a homemaker, and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. Together, Ruth and Bob enjoyed ballroom dancing, RAGBRAI, attending live theatre, and playing Scrabble. Ruth also inspired in her family a passion for travel, and was able to visit 48 states in her lifetime as well England, Scotland, Wales, Canada and Mexico.
