That prolific offense the Kirkwood Community College baseball team showed off all season was nowhere to be found at the NJCAA Division II World Series in Enid, Okla.
The Eagles were quickly eliminated with a pair of losses: Saturday night to Highland (Ill.), 8-0, in eight innings, and to Murray State (Ky.) on Sunday, 10-1, in seven.
Kirkwood went into the double-elimination tournament as the second-highest scoring team in the 10-team field. It led NJCAA Division II in home runs.
But two Heartland pitchers held the Eagles to four hits in their game. Mason Creacy limited them to five hits in a complete-game outing for Murray State.
Kirkwood had 116 homers going into this tournament but had none here. The Eagles finished their season 43-17.
This was their second straight trip to the Series.
