Zimmerman of San Antonio, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years marriage, John Duane Zimmerman of San Antonio; her parents, Earl Richard Farley and Ruby Gosnell Farley (Iowa); and brothers, John Richard "Dick" Farley and Kenneth Farley (Iowa).
Maxine grew up and graduated at Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, excelling in theater and dance. She then met her husband John, who was just returning from his service in the U.S. Navy during WWII in 1945. She married John on July 30, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, where they raised their three sons. Maxine held multiple employment positions after high school: a telephone operator with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, a line technician at Collins Radio Company, an account rep at American Greeting Cards, and a beauty consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics. While raising her three sons, Maxine was a fierce advocate for their activities, including Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and athletics. Maxine developed a reputation for being the most vocal fan at her sons' wrestling meets. So much so that fans were not certain which was more entertaining, the matches going on or Maxine cheering from the stands. After retirement, she and John moved to San Antonio, where two sons lived, and were active in church, dancing, card club and world travel. Maxine was a devoted mom and wife. Maxine had an extremely strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and she did not hesitate to share that with friends, family, and those who she met throughout her fruitful life. She also had a strong spirit and was never shy about sharing her faith, opinions and perspective on life. She was the consummate host, and always opened her home to those in need. Maxine lived life to bless others.
Maxine is now with her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, where she wanted to be right after her beloved John went on to be with the Lord. She will be greatly missed.
