Don Roberts, 83, grew up in Coralville. He died peacefully in his sleep May 18, 2022.
Those left to carry on his memory are his wife of 58 years, Edie; daughter, Becky, and her husband, Chris Havel; daughter-in-law, Abi; and grandchildren, Dillon, Danika and Deegan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunt and uncle and his son, Andy.
After graduating from IC City High, Don served in the Navy and was stationed in Japan. He had many good memories of that country and its people. After graduating from the U of I with a major in art, he continued working at the University of Iowa Photographic Service until he retired as manager in 1996.
He made friends easily and kept them long. He especially enjoyed his time at George's with all the rest of the "regulars."
An informal gathering time for family and friends will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Memorials gifts may be made in Don's memory to the National Parks Conservation Association or to the charity of your choice.
