Robert "Bob" E. Caraway, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Heritage Specialty Care. Graveside services will be
11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, at Mount Vernon Cemetery. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Robert was born Nov. 3, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Dannie and Inez (Yocum) Caraway. He worked at Iowa Manufacturing for over 40 years as well as at Caspers Standard service station in Lisbon. Bob was united in marriage to Kathy Turner and to this union, two sons were raised. They were later divorced. Bob was later united in marriage to Diana Fortner on March 17, 2016, in Cedar Rapids. He was proud and was an active member of the Alcoholic Anonymous for many years. He enjoyed going to stock car races, working in his yard, watching Western movies, cheering on the Hawkeyes and, most of all, being with his family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Diana; his sons, Dan Caraway and Rob Caraway; Diana's children, Colena Shuttleworth and Crystal Batey; grandchildren, Audrey Beshears, Rebecca Shuttleworth, Karissa Shuttleworth, Tyler Shuttleworth and Adreonna Batey; eight great-grandchildren, Victoria, MeiHauniki, Ezra, Enzo, MeiHauzikwe, Brooklyn, LilliAnn, Ja'Quawn; as well as his four nieces Julie (Andy) Caspers, Jane (Thad) Nevitt, Angela (John) Hackenmiller and Lindsay (Matt) Welsh.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, MaryAlice Caraway.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
