Helen J. Gardner, 96, of Marion, formerly of Center Point, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 23, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Chaplain Cindy McKee will officiate the service.
Helen is survived by Judy Doyl of Walker, Darsi, Derek, Dara and Doyl Brown of Fort Worth, Texas; Doug, Kris, Alexandra, Hannah and Paige Doyl of Walker; special cousins, Rick Langguth, Kathy Sankey; and with many other cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Margare; and her brothers-in-law, Richard Massman and H.W. (Dutch) McCright.
Helen was born July 11, 1925, to Roy and Rosalee (Langguth) Gardner in Center Point, Iowa. She graduated from Center Point High School. Helen worked in the office of Wilson/Farmstead up until her retirement in 1986, after 40 years of service. She was a member Beta Sigma Phi. She loved to read and watch all kinds of sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
She had been at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion since 2006 and she considered the residents and staff as family.
