Carol (Bergen) Junge, 78, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Lantern Park Specialty Care in Coralville. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at the Keystone Cemetery with the Rev. B. Andrew Wright officiating.
Carol was born May 17, 1943, in Vinton, the daughter of Robert and Edna (Husted) Bergen. She graduated from Shellsburg High School with the Class of 1961, where she excelled in basketball and softball, and also played clarinet and percussion in the band. She graduated from Paris Beauty Academy and worked as a beautician in Keystone prior to the birth of her sons.
On Oct. 14, 1962, she was united in marriage to Darold Junge at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone. The couple lived most of their married life in Keystone, until moving to Vinton and more recently to North Liberty. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the Legion Auxiliary, and served on the library board. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Carol is survived by her husband, Darold of North Liberty; sons, Darren (Sherri) Junge of Spragueville, Iowa, and Steve (Sandy) Junge of North Liberty; four grandchildren, Jenna (Kevin) Williams, Andrea (Jonas Morgan) Junge, Buddy Junge and Zander Junge; her sister, Susan Cross of Marion; niece, Marie Cross; nephew, Ray (Tonya) Cross; great-niece Allison Cross; and great-nephew, Robert Cross.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
