James "Jim" K. Peterschmidt, 90, of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away on April 29, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent's East Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., surrounded by family.
Jim was born on Feb. 2, 1932, in Fort Madison, Iowa. He graduated from Dallas City, Illinois Community High School.
Jim was blessed with a large and loving family. He met and married Mona Townsend on Dec. 7, 1957. They had six devoted children, 18 grandchildren and
nine great-grandchildren.
Jim served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at Sheller Globe as an operations manager until he retired. He loved hunting and fishing and, he especially enjoyed doing both with his family and friends. He was an amazing and passionate gardener. He even made sure he planted one last garden for his daughters.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Herman; mother, Alathea; and sister, Patsy.
He is survived by his wife, Mona; sons, Kyle (Chana) and Kameron (Shelley); and daughters, Kelly (Dennis), Kim (Tom), Kristi and Kara (JD).
A graveside service will be held on May 31, at Myers Cemetery, Pontoosuc Ill.
