Julie Benson age 69, of Monticello, formerly of Hopkinton and Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at her home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. She is survived by her son, Tom (Sarah Wolf); a stepson, Mike (Jodi) Benson; her grandchildren, Lukas, Lawson and Cloie Wilson, Lauren, Dustin, Mileea, Chris, Chaim, Brieanna, Hailey and Brett; her special friend, Sandy; and two siblings, Mary (Jim Kremer) Olmstead, Carl (Karen) Olmstead.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Warren Haynes; her husbands, Bob Wilson, Dorrance (Smokey) Chapman and Bob Benson; a sister, Carol (Allen) Martensen; and a brother, Larry.
Julie Kay Olmstead was born June 15, 1952, at Manchester, Iowa. She was the daughter of Carlton and Maxine Dighton, Olmstead. She graduated from the Maquoketa Valley High School in 1970. She went on to attend UNI. She was married to Bob Wilson and they had a son Thomas. She later married Smokey Chapman and then Bob Benson. She was employed by Rockwell Collins and Lefebure. Julie retired from Nordstroms in Cedar Rapids in 2017.
