Leo James Truhlar, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2022, in his home. As per Leo's wishes, private family services will be at a later date. Private family inurnment will be in Czech National Cemetery. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Leo was born Oct. 13, 1926, in Ely, the son of Lumir and Lenora (Halva) Truhlar. He was united in marriage to Dolores Unruh on Sept. 22, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. Leo worked for over 30 years at Rockwell-Goss until his retirement in 1992. He was a long-time member of Machinist Local Lodge 831. Leo enjoyed listening to music, playing the organ, going dancing, watching the Hawkeyes and going out to eat with his family.
Leo is survived by his children, Terry Truhlar of Athens, Ga., and Barbara Morse of Livermore, Calif.; three grandchildren, Tamara McGauthiar of Bethlehem, Ga., Anthony Truhlar of Winder, Ga., and Jason (Lisa) Morse of Ewing, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Robbie and Rachel Morse, Ethan, Nolan and Dalton McGauthiar; his sister, Rachel (Maurice) Garnant of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of over 70 years, Dolores, who died in 2015; and his brother, Raymond Truhlar.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy in his name.
