KATHI STRUTHERS DUNSWORTH
Solon
Kathi Struthers Dunsworth died peacefully on April 21, 2022, at the Solon Retirement Village, two days after her 79th birthday. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon is in charge of arrangements for cremation. No services are planned at this time. Burial will eventually be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville.
Kathleen Sue Struthers was born on April 19, 1943, at the hospital in Estherville, Iowa, the second daughter of Archie and Carol Andrews Struthers. Kathi attended schools in Iowa City and graduated from University High School in 1961. She attended State College of Iowa (now University of Northern Iowa). She was briefly employed by Collins Radio Company and the University of Iowa.
In January 1982 Kathi married Gene Dunsworth at First United Methodist Church in Iowa City, and they lived in Coralville until his death in 2000. She then resided in Iowa City for a number of years before moving to the Solon Retirement Village in January 2017. While a resident there she had enjoyed reading, watching old TV sitcoms, occasionally playing bingo, and getting to know residents and staff.
Kathi is survived by her older sister, Karen (Al) Albertus of Coralville; niece, Renee (Jeff) Menary of Grinnell; nephews, Jeff (Renu) Knowling of Cedar Rapids and Doug (Jeanne O'Keefe) Knowling of Wildwood Mo.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Also surviving are three stepchildren, Mike (Patty) Dunsworth of Kansas City, Mo., Lori (Ken) Miller and Sue Dunsworth; and a number of cousins.
Kathi was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, grandparents, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
