IOWA CITY — After hosting a plethora of recruits during the weekend of the open spring football practice, Iowa offered a few more prospects in the 2023 and 2024 classes.
The Hawkeyes also missed out on a 2024 recruit they offered — a first for a recruiting class that has been off to a fast start with three early commitments.
Here are the highlights of the last week of Iowa football recruiting:
Committed elsewhere
Class of 2024 defensive lineman Brandon Davis-Swain, who received an offer from Iowa on Jan. 25, committed over the weekend to Notre Dame. The West Bloomfield, Mich., prospect is 13th in 247Sports’ ranking of defensive linemen in his class.
His other offers included Michigan, Tennessee and Michigan State, among other Power Five schools.
Offers
Marquese Williams, a running back in the 2023 class from Harrisburg, Pa., picked up an offer from the Hawkeyes on Tuesday. Williams has a four-star rating from 247Sports and three-star rating from Rivals.
He already has offers from Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Penn State and Michigan State, among other schools.
Owen Wafle, a 2024 four-star defensive end from Princeton, N.J., became the latest New Jersey prospect to earn an offer from the Hawkeyes. Wafle goes to the same high school as 2023 quarterback commit Marco Lainez and 2023 offensive line target Logan Howland.
Wafle’s other offers include Notre Dame, Michigan State, Boston College and Syracuse. He is the 14th-best edge rusher in 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Nolan Ray, a three-star running back in the 2023 class from Bloomfield Township, Mich., announced Monday morning he received an offer from the Hawkeyes. Ray’s suitors include Pitt, Maryland, Buffalo and Temple.
Emmett Mosley, a four-star 2024 athlete from the Los Angeles area, added Iowa to his list of offers Friday. The Hawkeyes will have plenty of competition for Mosley, who already has received offers from Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, Georgia, Texas and other college football heavyweights.
Class rankings
2023 (Rivals): 16th (fifth in Big Ten)
2023 (247Sports Composite): 14th (third in Big Ten)
2024 (Rivals): Fourth (best in Big Ten)
2024 (247Sports Composite): Third (best in Big Ten)
