Jeanine Johnson passed away peacefully on April 24, 2022 at age 71, surrounded by her family after a long battle with COPD.
Jeanine was born on May 29, 1950, and grew up in Harmony, Minn. Over the years she managed to do it all. She graduated from Waldorf College in 1971 and married Carl Johnson on June 18, 1971.
She had careers at Westinghouse/NCS/Pearson and ACT in Iowa City, all of which she enjoyed, but nothing was better than the years spent as a stay-at-home mom to her children. Carl and Jeanine celebrated their 50th anniversary last year.
Jeanine was a Master Gardener and her summers were devoted to gardening, weeding, and canning all the amazing produce. During the cooler months she was an expert at knitting and enjoyed completing beautiful and challenging knitting patterns.
Jeanine was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy; her brother, James Scrabeck; and her parents, Lylia and Tillford Scrabeck.
Jeanine is survived by her loving husband, Carl; her daughters, Sara, Annie-Lie and Misty; her twin sister, Jeannette (Jerry) Mayfield; her sister-in-law, Janice Scrabeck; and her cat, Matilda, and dog, Carlie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 4; details will be provided at a later date.
