Mary "Jeanette" (Hagerman) Maier, 96, passed away at Terrance Glen on Sunday, April 24, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. until service time at noon with Pastor Nancy Redman officiating. Interment will be at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Chapel Garden.
Jeanette was born April 18, 1926, in Alburnett, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late George Robert and Selma (Quaas) Hagerman. She graduated from Alburnett High School as well as the Cedar Rapids Business College. On Oct. 12, 1947, Jeanette married the love of her life, William A. Maier. She worked for several years at The Marion Sentinel and the rest of her career at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Services division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Those left to cherish Jeannette's memories are her daughters, Jaclyn (Donald) Luke of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Barbara (Carlos) Abadi, of Tampa, Fla., and an honorary daughter, Mary Goad of Marion, Iowa; four grandchildren, Jamie Luke Harmening, Casey Luke, Joseph and Elliott Abadi; and her great-grandchildren, Taylor, Reese and Harrison Luke, Lucas, Lily and Ella Harmening, and Asher Atwater.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Mary Katherine Maier; and a granddaughter, Darcy Luke Davis.
Jeanette was deeply devoted to her family, friends and the Marion Presbyterian Church. A really great day included family, friends, cookies, cake, ice cream and coffee.
The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to niece, Colleen Dwars; nephew, Brent Hagerman; and all of mom's friends, church leaders, hospice and caregivers who made her days bright.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the First Presbyterian Church of Marion and or Hospice of Mercy.
