Kenneth C. Kitzman, 71, of Swisher, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at the Iowa City Veterans Affairs Hospital. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Kenneth was born on June 5, 1950, in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of Dallas and Maxine (Chambers) Kitzman. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. On Oct. 2, 1976, he was united in marriage to Ilene Kilberger in Oxford, Iowa. He worked as a plumber and pipefitter. Kenneth enjoyed fishing for trout and catfish and hunting for deer and pheasant. He also enjoyed the outdoors while gardening and camping with his family. He liked watching football and cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was a proud member of Plumbers Union Local 125, Swisher American Legion and Swisher Men's Club.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Ilene of Swisher; children, Brad (Deirdre) of Ankeny, Kara (Robert) Carlson, of Oswego, Ill., and Lara Crane of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Aurelia, Conlan, Lauren, Alexander and Cora; brother, Dallas Kitzman Jr.; and sister-in-law, Carol Kitzman.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Carleen Kitzman; and brother, Fred Kitzman.
Memorials may be directed to the Jefferson-Monroe Fire Department or the Swisher American Legion.
