Marlene Ann Stutzman, 84, of Marion, died Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Independence Village in Waukee. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with burial to follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Brosh Chapel.
Marlene was born Dec. 28, 1937, in La Porte City, the daughter Elmer Milo and Ella (Sokol) Shanda. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School, Class of 1956, later graduating from the Paris Academy of Beauty in Cedar Rapids. Marlene worked in her profession until marrying Christian "Jim" Stutzman on June 16, 1962, in Belle Plaine. Jim and Marlene resided in Belle Plaine until 1975, when they moved with their son John to Marion. After the move, Marlene decided to go back to work, starting a new career in banking. Her last employer being Linn Area Credit Union. She enjoyed traveling with her friends, visiting with relatives, playing Bunco, as well as spending time with her family and friends.
Marlene is survived by her daughter-in-law, Phyllis Pomeroy; her sister-in-law, Pearl Shanda; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; son, John; her brothers, Wayne Shanda and Marvin Shanda; and her sister, Margery Harapat.
Memorials may be directed to the Kenwood Park United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids.
