Bettie Mae Van Amburg, 80, of Norwalk, Iowa,passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022, at MercyOne Johnston Hospice Care in Johnston, Iowa. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at
1 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will be held Friday, April 15, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of Tranquility Section.
Bettie was born March 30, 1942, in Stanwood, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Ada Mae (Harmon) Achey. After graduation, she was united in marriage to Virgle Van Amburg on Dec. 30, 1967. Bettie worked as an operating room tech for 15 years, a school bus driver for Prairie School District for 15 years and a cook for the Norwalk School District. She enjoyed playing card games, being in the kitchen, crossword puzzles, caring for her plants and flowers, shopping and spending time with her family. Bettie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her so deeply.
Bettie is survived by her husband, Virgle Van Amburg of Norwalk, Iowa; son, David (Kathy) Van Amburg of Norwalk, Iowa; three granddaughters, Hailey Van Amburg, 30, Samantha Schnoor, 22, and Sarah Van Amburg, 19; a sister, Karen Dennis of Clarence, Iowa; and other loving extended family members.
She was preceded by her parents; a son, Philip Van Amburg; and two brothers, Bob and Richard Achey.
