Robert A. Griffith, 74, of Anamosa, passed away on April 5, 2022, at UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown. Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website under the obituary

Robert Alan Griffith was born on Sept. 19, 1947, to William and Rachel Griffith of Monticello, Iowa. Robert graduated from Monticello High School in 1967 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps that same year. He served in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. Robert was a very proud Veteran and served through VFW, was a lifetime member of the Order of the Purple Heart, Marine Corps League, and the Disabled American Veterans which he was very active in for many years. He did service officer work, and he was past state commander for the DAV as well for Ch. 10. He and his brother Rodger attended the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight on Sept. 18, 2018.
On July 26, 1974, Robert married the love of his life, Sherry Barnes. They had four wonderful children: Rebecca, Braden (Jodi), Raychelle and Noretta. They have been blessed with two grandchildren, Marissa and Thorsen. They were lifetime members of Ascension Lutheran Church in Marion.
Robert worked at D.C. Taylor Roofing for 10 years and then moved to IDOT from 1984-2008.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing, golf and gardening.
Also surviving are his brothers, Rodger (Mary), David (Jean) and John (Deb); and sisters, Diana, Cindy, Sharon and JoAnn (Jim).
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; daughter, Rebecca; brother, Merle; and brother-in-law, Jim.
