The growth of girls’ wrestling continues and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has added another state championship event to coincide with the rapidly expanding sport. The IGHSAU will begin a State Duals championship for the 2026-27 season.

Decorah’s Naomi Simon capped her third straight undefeated season with a pin in the finals for the 170-pound title at the inaugural Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union state wrestling tournament.
Chloe Sanders warmed up, watching teammates Bree Swenson and Ellie Weets earn their spot on the IGHSAU’s first state wrestling podium. She followed with her own win, giving the Vikings three semifinalists and securing her own medal.
