DOLORES JANE (THIERING) KUNDE

Dolores Jane (Thiering) Kunde, 94, of Tipton, passed with the love of her family surrounding her, on Monday, April 4, 2022, while under the care of Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 8, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tipton. Dolores will be laid to rest in the Inland Cemetery, Bennett, Iowa. Dolores, daughter of Harry and Alma (Bauer) Thiering, was born on Tuesday, March 27, 1928, in Cedar County, Iowa. She attended Country School from first to eighth grade and graduated from Tipton High School in 1945. On May 25, 1947, Dolores and Elmer Herman Kunde were joined in marriage at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Tipton.
Dolores was a homemaker and farmer's wife. She also did bookkeeping for K&K Farm Equipment. In her free time, Dolores was an active member of the Peacemakers Quilting Club, Sewing Group, Silver Star Kings Daughters, Women of the Church, WELCA, Women's Bowling, Couples League Bowling and the Tipton Golf and Country Club. She was a very active member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tipton. Her talents are seen throughout the world through her quilting blankets, sewing school kits, and back pack buddies.
Dolores is survived by sons, Richard Lynn (Bonnie) Kunde of Beloit, Wis., and Dale Allen (Cindy) Kunde of Tipton, Iowa; daughter, Debra Ann (Michael) Cook of Tipton, Iowa; grandchildren, Erin Kunde of Wilmington, Mass., Derrick Kunde of Iowa City, Iowa, Jennifer (Kasey) Keltner of Columbus Junction, Rebecca (Scott) Sammons of Ely, Iowa, Kelly (Michael) Thomas of Tipton, Iowa, and Jeremy (Erin Petersen) Cook of Riverside, Iowa; and great-grandchildren, D.J. Kunde, Eloise and Clara Keltner, Marak and Jensen Sammons, and Carter and Blakely Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; brothers, Melvin Thiering and an infant brother; and daughter-in-law, Kerry Kunde.
