Kurt K. Peters, 51, passed away to his heavenly home on Saturday, April 2, 2022, with his loving family by his side at the Donna and Dennis Oldorf Hospice House from complications of a stroke. Per Kurt's request, he was cremated. Private family burial at Urbana Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the Monarch Room at Teahen Funeral Home, where coffee and cookies will be served.
Kurt is survived by his children, Jakob, Kade and Karleigh Peters; his parents, Pete and Carol Peters; sisters, Lisa (Jeff) Holten and Lorene (Tom) Spencer of Vinton; brother, Mark (Jacqueline) Peters of Montana; brother-in-law, Brad Holsinger of Walker; and many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Kurt was preceded in death by his grandparents and sister, Deanna Holsinger.
Kurt was born Aug. 9, 1970, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, to Charles "Pete" and Carol Weber Peters. He attended Truman, Coolidge, Taft and Jefferson High School, graduating from Jefferson in 1988. After high school, Kurt joined the Marine Corps. He was a carpenter by trade.
Kurt's greatest accomplishment, after having his children, was what he achieved in martial arts. He had several black belts and taught many people his skill. Kurt also taught MMA and had 22 undefeated fights. He was an avid Notre Dame and Miami Dolphins football fan and loved sitting by the campfire and fishing with his buddies.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Kurt's name.
