JOHN ALLAN ALBAUGH
Tipton
John Allan Albaugh, 81, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from complications contributed to a fall. John was born July 8, 1940, the second of nine children to Willard and Lucille (Cook) Albaugh. As per John's wishes, he was cremated. Services are pending.
John graduated from Mechanicsville Consolidated School in 1958. He and Lou Ann Liercke married in 1960. They were later divorced. John served in the U.S. Air Force for six years, spending most of that time in Texas. Following his discharge, he returned to Tipton where he worked for a local contractor before starting his own business, Albaugh PHC, and continued to work for 46 years in the Tipton area.
John pursued his passion of flying becoming a pilot and later a flight instructor. In his spare time, he traveled the world skiing and scuba diving. John volunteered and was an active member in numerous organizations in Tipton including Lions Club, Tipton Ambulance, Mathews Memorial Tipton Airport. He also donated to numerous charities including Special Olympics and Friends of the Public Library. He was also actively involved with Flags Over Tipton.
John is survived by his children, Shawn (Todd) Albaugh Kleppe, Tipton Iowa, Kyle (Kathleen Anderson) Albaugh, Iowa City, Iowa, Ryan Albaugh (Deb Petersen), Tipton, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Carol Anderson, Tipton, Janet Robinson, Cocoa, Fla., and Patricia Albaugh, Mechanicsville; three brothers, Jim (Cindy) Albaugh, Tipton, Tom Albaugh and Bob Albaugh, Mechanicsville; as well as many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Jo Loria and Nancy McAtee; and brothers-in-law, Avie Anderson, Robbie Robinson and Jim Liercke.
