Devon was born June 24, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Larry and Linda Ruchotzke. Devon loved everyone he met. Those that got to know him loved him just as much. He loved his family and getting to spend time with them. He loved to tease and laugh. He had a great smile and laugh. He loved the friends he made throughout school, at REM, RDS, Harmony House, Camp Courageous and Special Olympics.
He loved sports. He participated in swimming, basketball, track and field, softball and bowling for Special Olympics. He earned many ribbons and medals over the years. He also loved going hunting and fishing. Besides sports he also loved "Dukes of Hazzard," superhero's (especially the Hulk), watching movies, watching "Days of Our Lives," shopping (especially for T-shirts, pants/jeans, hats, shoes), singing and dancing, country music, going out to eat, and his favorite holidays were his birthday and Christmas.
The family is forever grateful to all those who supported Devon during his life. Especially Harmony House who assisted him during his last several years with dementia.
Please feel free to come dressed in your favorite t-shirt and jeans in honor of Devon.
