ROBERT MOUBRY
Cedar Rapids
Robert James "Bob" Moubry, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Bob was born on Jan. 3, 1932, to James and Agnes Moubry. Bob joined the Paratroopers and served two years in the Army. When Bob returned home, he resumed a job at Universal Engineering as a welder. Bob married Karen Kelly from Belle Plaine, he knew he had met his match. They have been married for 68 years and have travelled together around Europe twice. Bob purchased the Shell Station on First Avenue and 14th Street, and he had that venture for five years. After that, Bob was hired on at Champion Spark Plug Company.
Bob always had a dream of being an auctioneer and he made that dream a reality. For 28 years, first in Cedar Rapids, then Evergreen, Colo., and finally in Phoenix, Ariz., which he loved. Bob and Karen returned to Iowa and built a condo on 42nd Street NE. They then moved to Meth-Wick Community in 2010. It was a great choice.
Bob is survived by his wife, Karen; his sons, Brad H. Moubry of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Jeffrey Moubry of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a niece, Trina Heath, who has been a treat. Bob has had friends this past year that have made this year truly great: Amy H., Cher S., Trina H., and Duane H, who was like a son. Thank you all. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Mark; and sister, Sharla Heath.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob's name to a charity of one's choice.
