Nancy Lee Cahill, 82, of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away at home on March 16, 2022. She will be greatly missed by her family but knowing she and her husband are together again brings them peace. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 4, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Joseph Sia officiating. Her family
will greet friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 3, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service with a rosary to be recited at 4 p.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church or American Brain Tumor Association.
Nancy was born June 8, 1939, in Moline, Ill., to Leitha Glancy and Clifford Hunter. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Lloyd Mohr in Moline, where she graduated from high school. Nancy then went on to receive a bachelors degree in nursing from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.
Nancy married the love of her life, John Cahill, on Aug. 18, 1962, in East Moline. The couple settled in Glen Ellyn, Ill., where they would raise their five children. Nancy and John enjoyed 56 devoted and memorable years together before he passed away in 2018.
Nancy worked as a nurse for many years, working at Central DuPage Hospital in Chicago, Ill., for the majority of her career. After retiring in 1999, Nancy and John moved to Iowa City.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and enjoyed traveling, golfing, exercising and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Nancy was also an avid Hawkeye fan.
She is survived by her children, Mark (Sharon) Cahill, Mike (Michelle) Cahill, Steve (Laura) Cahill, Katie Cahill and Kevin Cahill; 10 grandchildren, Jordan, Jeremy, Marissa, John, Jessica, Connor, Caden, Nichol, Meghan and Christopher; and a brother, Todd (Linda) Hunter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
