Rondalyn McAllen, 76, of Coralville, passed away March 17, 2022, at Lantern Park Specialty Care.
Rondalyn was born Feb. 11, 1946, in Manchester, Iowa, to Ray and Juanita (Young) Woock. Following graduation from Maquoketa Valley High School in 1964, Rondalyn worked at Allied Insurance in Des Moines. At the same time, Thomas was a student at Drake University. He occasionally ate at a restaurant that was next door to Rondalyn's apartment, but they did not know each other at that time.
After moving to Cedar Rapids, Rondalyn got a job working for the Cedar Rapids Building Department and later transferred to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau, where she eventually met Thomas, whose father was an assistant chief. After an extended courtship, she married Thomas on Aug. 5, 1977. After the birth of their son Todd, she enjoyed being a devoted stay at home mother but also had the ability to slip away in order to take on some house cleaning opportunities part-time when relatives were in town to assist with the baby.
In her spare time, she enjoyed word puzzles, cooking and watching her favorite television shows. Above all, she loved spending quality time with her family and friends.
Rondalyn is survived by her loving husband, Tom; son, Todd and special friend, Rachel Gill; granddaughter, Caleigh; as well as her niece and several nephews. Also left to cherish her memory is her "grandpuppy" Toby, who often sought her out for belly rubs and scratches throughout the day.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ronald Woock.
Per Rondalyn's request, cremation has been accorded and no services will be held at this time. Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Humane Shelter or to the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.lensingfuneral.com
The family also wishes to thank the many healthcare professionals who provided for her care, especially to Dr. Ashby and Dr. Brewer and to the staff at Lantern Park in Coralville.
At the beginning of their marriage, Rondalyn shared with Tom three wishes she had for her life. At the time of her passing, she had fulfilled all of them and was at peace. She will be missed.
