Estella Marlene Unruh, 84, of Mechanicsville, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022. Graveside services: 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 25, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. A reception with a light lunch at the Memorial Building will immediately follow the service. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon.
Survivors include her children, Dennis (Gail) Unruh, Joe (Rhonda) Unruh, Kathleen (Mike) Henry, Robbie (Kevin) Ward and Judy Birely; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Arthur Myers; sister, Marilyn Chase; many nieces and nephews; and many beloved family and friends.
Marlene was born Nov. 14, 1937, in Aredale, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Alberta (Street) Myers. She married Clair Unruh in September 1956. They later divorced. Marlene worked as an electroplater at Rockwell Collins for over 26 years, retiring in 1992. She then worked 10 years at the Mechanicsville Nursing Home in the laundry department. She loved caring for her family, making quilts, doing puzzles, flower gardening and watching her favorite shows, "NCIS" and "Perry Mason."
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lavern (Marylyn) Myers; and three grandchildren.
