Donna Mae Washburn, 96, of Marion, died Monday, March 14, 2022, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services:
11 a.m. Tuesday March 22, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until service time. Pastor Jaymee Glenn-Burns will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Dennis (Nancy) Washburn of Centerville, Iowa, Daniel (Deb) Washburn of Marion, Iowa; a sister, Joann Ferguson of Marion, Iowa); her grandchildren, Andrew (Stephanie) Washburn, Leah Washburn, Melissa (Michael) Roetzel and Stephanie (Jon) Lewis; and her great-grandchildren, Joshua Lewis, Cody (Lindsey) Lewis, Scott Roetzel, Gracie Roetzel and Lila Washburn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dean Washburn.
Donna was born Aug. 17, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Hazel Sponar. She married Dean Washburn on Feb. 26, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dean and Donna started Washburn Plumbing in Cedar Rapids, where she was office manager. Donna was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Elks Club. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and anything with music. Her pride and joy, however, were her grandchildren. She loved watching their activities and having them spend the night where she would lovingly spoil them to pieces. She was an awesome cook and her specialty was apple pie.
