Jannie Pearl Richmond, 83, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at First Presbyterian Church located at 310 Fifth St. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401. Homegoing services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is in charge of local arrangements.
Jannie was born June 28, 1938, in Lexington, Miss., the daughter of James and Sarah (Grant) Wright. In 1966, they moved to Cedar Rapids. Jannie was united in marriage to Lee Henry Richmond in 1955. She worked for 10 years at Woolworth's and at Quaker Oats for over thirty years, where she later retired. Jannie enjoyed listening to Gospel music, occasionally visiting the casino and, most of all, spending time with her loving family, especially the grandchildren.
Jannie is survived by her children, John Richmond of Cedar Rapids and Daylisha Wright of Dolton, Ill.; grandchildren, Antione (Collene) Smith, LaTyniesha Wilson, Takeesha Smith, Jontreyvius Richmond, Terrence Martin, Armon Hill Jr., Ramon Robinson Jr., and RaChell Robinson; 15 great-grandchildren; her sister, Goldie Pearl Landfair of Lexington, Miss.; as well as host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee; her son, Lee Henry Richmond Jr.; her sister, Pinky Crooks; and her brothers, Jessie Wright, Lewis Wright, Arthur Wright, James Wright and John Wright.
