The 2022 Iowa high school boys’ state basketball tournament continues Tuesday with six more quarterfinal games at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

CLASS 2A QUARTERFINALS
No. 6 Monticello 46, No. 3 Mid-Prairie 43
Tate Petersen made a pair of clutch fourth-quarter 3-pointers and Preston Ries followed with a tie-breaking trey with 1:09 left as Monticello handed Mid-Prairie its first loss, avenging a regular-season defeat. It’s Monticello’s first state tournament win since 1960.
The Panthers (22-3) overcame a scoreless third quarter in which their 27-18 halftime lead turned into a 33-27 deficit. They were held without a point for more than 11 1/2 minutes, but followed with a 10-0 run to go up 37-35 on Petersen’s deep 3 with 2:51 remaining. Petersen finished with a game-high 19 points, while Ries had 11 points and nine rebounds. Monticello was 9 of 25 from 3-point range, including 6 of 13 in the first half.
Carter Harmsen led the Golden Hawks (24-1), who beat River Valley Conference foe Monticello 65-50 at home on Feb. 11, with 11 points and eight rebounds.

No. 2 Rock Valley 75, No. 7 Jesup 61
Brys Van Grootheest scored 28 points on 11-for-16 shooting and Sam Remmerde had 22 points on 10-for-14 shooting and 14 rebounds as Rock Valley ended Jesup’s 16-game winning streak.
The Rockets (20-5) led 19-13 after the first quarter and 38-25 at halftime. Landyn Van Kekerix added 13 points.
Jesup (19-6) got as close as seven in the second half before Rock Valley pulled away for good. Carson Lienau had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Corbin Fuelling scored 16 points and Jack Miller had 10.

CLASS 3A QUARTERFINALS
No. 1 Dallas Center-Grimes 65, No. 8 Carroll 45
Dallas Center-Grimes got over the quarterfinal hump with its first state tournament win in its seventh appearance, all since 2010.
Jackson Jones made 4 of 7 3-pointers and scored a game-high 18 points and Bo Huston shot 3 of 7 from deep and totaled 13 points for the Mustangs (20-5), who shot 57.5 percent from the field (9 for 21 from 3-point range). Jacob Runyan tallied 10 points and 10 assists.
Kaleb Booth scored 12 points for Carroll, which finished 16-9.
No. 4 Winterset 81, No. 5 Marion 77 (OT)
The 4-5 matchup in Class 3A proved to the be the expected pairing of even teams, with 11 ties and 12 lead changes before Winterset outscored Marion 12-8 in overtime for the win.
Brayden Dinkla scored 27 points on 9-for-18 shooting and had six rebounds and five assists and Nathan Avery hit 4 of 6 3-point shots and scored 22 points for the Huskies, who overcame a 35-point effort from Marion’s Brayson Laube. Laube was 12 for 23 from the field and made all 10 of his free-throw attempts.
Winterset led 69-65 with 1:18 left in regulation, but Payton Hodges scored on a drive and Alex Mota came up with a steal and layup to tie it with 52 seconds left. The Huskies missed their final attempt, but took the lead in OT on two Dinkla free throws and never relinquished it.
Mota finished with 16 points for Marion, while Hodges had 13 off the bench. Winterset’s Levi Gurwell added 15 points, Charlie McDonald 11 and 12 boards.

No. 7 DeWitt Central 67, No. 2 Decorah 59
Central slowed Decorah’s Class 3A-best offense, holding the Vikings 12 points below their season average in a quarterfinal upset. The Sabers (19-6) only trailed early in the game and were up 13-7 after the first quarter.
Gibson McEwen scored a game-high 24 points for Central. Star big man Shawn Gilbert had 16 points and 11 rebounds before leaving the game with an injury at the end of the third quarter. Reserve Ryan Watters also had a double-double, with 10 points and 15 boards.
Trey McCain led Decorah (22-2) with 22 points, Joseph Bockman had 14 and Noah Storts had 11 points and nine rebounds. It was the Vikings’ first state tournament appearance since 1977.

No. 3 Davenport Assumption 69, No. 6 Humboldt 65 (OT)
Assumption rallied from a 14-point deficit and an 11-point fourth quarter hole, then got a go-ahead 3-pointer from Luke Klostermann with 16 seconds left in overtime.
Jay Costello forced overtime with a three-point play with eight seconds left. A few minutes later, he drew an offensive foul, then kicked out a pass to Klostermann for a 3 to make it 67-65. Klostermann finished with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds and Noah Mack had 17 points. Rico Byrd added 10 off the bench.
Will Orness led the Wildcats with 17 points, Ben Kuehnast had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Trevor Jacobson added 12 points.
