MARILOU SKINNER
Lowden
Marilou Skinner, 81, of Lowden, passed away on Friday March 4, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with Pastor Tessa Cavey officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Massillon Cemetery.
Marilou was born to Kenneth and Velma Geronzin Crosthwaite on Jan. 25, 1941, in the family home in Grand Mound, Iowa. She married John Skinner on Feb. 1, 1958, in Lowden, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband, John; children, Kate (Elmer) St. John of Clarence, Kevin (Susanne Snead) of Massillon and Kendra (Dave) Rock of Pella; grandchildren, Lindsey (Dave) Doscher, Kevin (Heather) Skinner Jr., Mandy (Jarred Watson) Davis, Kirby (Abigail) Rock and Karlee (Andrew) Schneider; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Donna Tank of Oxford Junction and Karen (Dana) Alitz of Lost Nation.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Judy Henry; step-father, Duane Rutenbeck; and brother-in-law, Merle Tank.
Marilou enjoyed playing cards, quilting, collecting rabbits and decorating for the holidays and the different seasons. She owned a craft shop in Clarence back in the 1980s. She would look forward to cooking Sunday dinners for her family, as spending time with them was important to her. Marilou was a loving person to everybody that was in her life.
