John E. Lentner, 74, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, after a brief illness. A Celebration of Life gathering will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St., SW.
John was born on Aug. 27, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Elaine Vozenilek and her late husband George. After attending school, he served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Camden (AOE 2) as a Ship Fitter from 1969-1971.
John was united in marriage to his wife Anna (Hajek) Lentner on Aug. 8, 1994, in Las Vegas, Nev. He spent most of his life working as a diesel mechanic and assembling semi-trailers. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, working in his tomato garden, going to the casino and having good conversations with those around him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; three children, Cassy (Corey) Plough, Tammy Conn (Jerry) and TJ Feaker; nine grandchildren Brittnee, Jesseca, Tanner, Stephanie, Timmy, Hannah, Cameron, Logan and Payton; and five great-grandchildren, Kobe, Roman, Taylen, Serenity and Mallory.
John was proceeded in death by his mother and stepfather. Elaine and George Vozenilek; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Myrtle Hajek; and four-legged best friend, Buddy.
