Kenneth Stock, 88, of Solon, passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2022, at Mercy Iowa City. Visitation will be held from noo to 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Private interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Ken was born March 17, 1933, in Iowa City. He was the only child of Elmer and Helen (McArtor) Stock. After graduating from University High School in 1952, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for two years. Following honorable discharge, Ken worked for the city of Iowa City for a short time until he joined the police force, where he remained for over 35 years. During "retirement," Ken worked as a security officer for Mercy Hospital for 15 years.
Ken married Janet Corporon in 1963 in Cedar Rapids and to this union, two daughters were born. The family made their home in Solon, where Ken took up many hobbies, including gardening, hunting, farming (raising cattle) and enjoying racquetball and softball.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Janet; daughters, Andrea O'Donnell (Darren) and Sue Auner-Shultz (Todd); and his three grandchildren, Delaney Auner, Preston Shultz and Madison Shultz.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
