John Ray Shock Jr., 74, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022, at Heritage Specialty Care after a long illness. A Celebration of John's Life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE. Private burial will be at Campbell Cemetery, rural Cedar Rapids.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Kristine Shock; his sister, Bernie (Joseph) Kinnan; and brother, Robert (Mary) Clymer.
He is survived by four nieces and three nephews, including his best friend and caregiver, Erin Clymer.
John was a dedicated employee of Mercy Medical Center for 37 years in the Environmental Services department. Following his retirement, John lived at Irving Point Assisted Living, where he had many friends. His final months were spent at Heritage Specialty Care. John had an infectious laugh and was beloved by all who met him.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Heritage Specialty Care and Hospice for their exemplary and compassionate care of John during his final days.
