Honey Creek Resort is a boondoggle

We can hope that impressionable young minds being bombarded with interesting leftist ideas in media and the education establishment can take a lesson from, “Iowa DNR wants to sell Honey Creek Resort,” (Feb. 21, The Gazette).
This expensive boondoggle could not better illustrate the difference between Marx's socialism and what he defined as capitalism. He coined capitalism as “private ownership of the means of production.”
Economic decisions are best made by the people who will profit or lose by that decision. My wife and I had no desire to own a luxury resort. Now we will sell it at a loss.
Apply that concept to Medicare for example, which began the skyrocketing cost of medical care by removing most of medicine from private hands in 1965. Compare that to electronics, with no government ownership or subsidies. They are affordable for everyone.
Any critical thinker can see Honey Creek as a silly project. But as I always said to my kids when things went wrong here on the farm, “it's cheaper than school!”
