Betty was raised on the family farm in Allamakee County Iowa, she joined her sister Colleen and later became an older sister to brothers, Barton and Gary. Her parents, Clarence W. and Mary (Spiegler) Bulman allowed her to start school early as she begged to tag along with her older
sister and attend the little country school. She finished her education at Waukon High School graduating in 1945. After graduation, she became a teacher at a one-room country school Ludlow No. 4. There she taught two little girls Shirley and Alice, who would become her sisters-in-law. It was during this time that she met her husband James Snitker. They married on June 21, 1947, and celebrated nearly 53 years together before his passing in 2000. In 1952, they decided to make Cedar Rapids their home as there were employment opportunities for Jim. Betty was a homemaker and loving mother to a son, Rick, and three daughters, Bonnie, Elizabeth Ann, and Jan. In 1957, Betty joined the Stanley Home Products company. She was with them for 42 years and won many awards and trips for her sales. When Jim retired they traveled together, enjoyed fishing, volunteering at their church and many activities at the Moose Lodge. Betty was an active member of TOPS.
Her last years were spent at Living Center West, where she was lovingly cared for. She loved her care takers and they loved her.
Those left behind include her daughters, Bonnie (Frank) Ehrenberger, Ann Snitker and Jan (Craig) Croskrey; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her two brothers, Barton (Lotus) and Gary (Alice) Bulman; and a daughter-in-law, Janet Bicknese.
Upon her arrival home, she was met by her husband, Jim; her son, Rick; her sister, Colleen; her parents; and many other ones that have passed before her.
