Steven Michael Dolezal, 71, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022. A private family memorial service will be
held at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed at www.cedarmemorial.com under the obituary for Steven M. Dolezal, under the video tab starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022.
Steven Michael Dolezal was born on Sept. 19, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of John Henry and Sylvia Lucille (Egan) Dolezal. He was united in marriage to Joan Paustian on Sept. 6, 1975, in Iowa City, Iowa. Steven retired from Diebold in 2012, after a prominent career for multiple companies in the banking service and installation industry. Including over 25 years with LeFebure in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He served the community on multiple boards including the National Czech and Slovak Museum & Library.
Steven cherished the time spent with his family, especially spending time with his three grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman; his second home was on the water. His love for the Hawkeyes and sharing his cooking with others came in as close seconds to his heart.
He is survived by his wife, Joan (Paustian) Dolezal; two children, Jennifer (Dolezal) Cagle and Steven (Kelsey) Dolezal; three grandchildren, Cody Steven Cagle, Kadan Michael Dolezal and Tate Steven Dolezal; a brother, Terry Dolezal; and extended family members, Jaron, Allison and Milo Van Maanen.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, John Dolezal and Vicki (Dolezal) Reeve; in-laws, Wayne and Shirley (King) Paustian; and son-in-law, Charlie Cagle.
Fisherman's Prayer:
"I pray that I may live to fish…
Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray.
When in the Lord's great landing net
And peacefully asleep,
That in His Mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep,"
You're a keeper, Grandpa.
We miss you.
-Love your Family
