Richard Bernard Schmitt, 65, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa. The family will be present to receive friends at the church one hour prior to services. Memorials have been established for St. Jude Children's Hospital. Online condolences may be sent for Richard's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.
Those left to cherish Richard's memory are his wife of 25 years, Traci; daughters, Amanda Frost and Katie Kreiner of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Samantha (Chase) Proctor; and grandchildren, Landon, Lilah and Lennox Proctor of Cadott, Wis.; siblings, Rose (Dave Neff) Bixby of Ainsworth, Iowa, Betty (Neil) Sedlacek of Cedar Rapids and Bonnie (Joe) Lins of Washington, Iowa; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Eugene Bixby.
