Blanche McVey, 85, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at IBEW, 1211 Wiley Blvd. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.
Blanche was born on Feb. 25, 1936, in Salem, S.D., to Herbert and Florence (Sandstrom) Klontz. She married the love of her life, William Thomas McVey, on Oct. 5, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Blanche enjoyed her trips to Meskwaki Casino. Blanche was a snow bird in Mesa Arizona for many years. She was an avid golfer. Her favorite saying to her sons was "Drive for show and putt for dough." There wasn't a puzzle that she wouldn't tackle. One of her famous sayings was "Oh My" and "I'll take a shell" A.K.A. beer.
Paper tole and cross stitching were her crafting pastimes during long winter months. Fishing down at Lake McBride with her ole bamboo pole was a sight to see (She caught 'em).
Survivors include her husband, Bill McVey of Marion, Iowa; brother, Herbert Klontz of Oklahoma; sister, Pat Ericksen of Ohio; daughter, Teri Butz (Rick); sons, Bill McVey Jr. (Lorie) and Randy McVey (Diane); grandchildren, Joshua Kintzel (Kelly), Mollie McDonald (Marty), Stephanie Henry (Domonique), Samantha Conley, Emilia Aleksander (Justin) and Trent McVey; and numerous great-grandchildren.
