James Robert Cooney, 61, of Marion, died on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022, in Mercy Medical Center. Services:
11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until service time. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his son, Casey Cooney of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Kaylin Bohm and son, Elliot of Center Point, Iowa; his parents, Noel and Kumiko Cooney Jr.; and a brother, Richard (Tammy) Cooney of Kingwood, Texas. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dakota "Cody" Cooney.
James was born Sept. 7, 1960, in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., the son of Noel and Kumiko (Shutto) Cooney Jr. James was a mechanic. He was a car enthusiast who enjoyed racing and building cars. James was a friend to all- generous and helping in any way he could. He loved life, adventures and traveling.
