Lou Strnad, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital. There will be no viewing or service. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will take place at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Lou was a resident of Cedar Rapids almost his entire life. He was born in Oak Park, Ill., on May 23, 1942, to Louis J. and Eleanor R (Vaclavek) Strnad. He was an only child and attended the University of Iowa. He was in the Army and the National Guard, where he attained rank of Sergeant. Lou married Lyla O'Donnell but divorced in 1971. He later married Sharon Godbey and discovered the single life suited him best. He traveled a lot, by himself and with lady friends, through many states, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. Among other things he was a past president of the Cedar Rapids Coin Club. His interest included history, antiques, old homes, and cars.
Survivors include a son, Randy Louis Strnad of Marion; and many cousins.
