Nadine Yvonne Vandercook, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at the Meth-Wick Community. Services: noon on Monday at Teahen Funeral Home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to noon, Monday at the funeral home. Due to concerns over COVID-19, it is suggested that family members and friends wear a mask to any funeral event.
Nadine is survived by four children, Pamela (Don) Smalley of Marquette, Jeff (Terri) of Eagan, Minn., Jayne (Jon) Ament of Solon and Steve (Debbie) of Portage, Mich.; five grandchildren, Mark, Jenna, Ali, Emily and Natalie; and one great-grandson, Atlas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, who died on May 26, 1983; sister, Darlene Stiles; and brother, W. Scott Jeffers.
Nadine was born on Feb. 10, 1927, in Huron, S.D., daughter of Orral and Grace Otto Jeffers. She married Donald Vandercook in Marshalltown, Iowa. Nadine was a secretary for St. James United Methodist Church for over 25 years where she was a member.
Nadine was an excellent seamstress, woodcarver and cook. She enjoyed reading, traveling, watching and feeding birds and spending time at her family's cabin in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Nadine volunteered for many years at St. Luke's Hospital and the Linn County Genealogical Society. Above all, she loved being with her family and will be deeply missed.
