Clifton Lee Shakespeare, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Private family inurnment will take place at the Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum in Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Clifton was born Jan. 2, 1947, in Bristow, Okla., the son of Charles and Mary (Baileys) Shakespeare. He graduated from high school and then served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1973-78, during the Vietnam Era. Clifton went on to obtain a degree from Kirkwood Community College. He was united in marriage to Linda Lee (Sailor) Lingo on July 22, 1985, in Cedar Rapids. He worked as a welder for HiWay Equipment Co. for 35 years.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Linda Shakespeare of Cedar Rapids; sons, Mark (Shawna) Sailor of Hazleton, Iowa, and Chris Sailor of Cedar Rapids; and grandson, Zach Sailor of Hazleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Shakespeare.
