My 2020 caucus was a mess

Regarding The Gazette editorial, “First, but at what cost?” Feb. 6 brought up some really interesting reflections on the “in person” 2020 caucuses.
I am not sure if it was the incompetency of a few of the people in charge of the caucus or if it was the blatant disregard of how a caucus “should” be run.
My friend has always participated in presidential elections, yet they could not find him on the registration rolls and he had to register as a new voter!
Upon entering the meeting area, we chose the side of the person we were voting for. Upon starting the meeting, no one gave us instructions on how the caucus was to be run, like giving us time to talk to members of both sides of the aisle to see if we could persuade other voters to come to our side or vice versa.
We went right into counting how many people were for each candidate. The number on our side had at least four more votes than the other side, but those in charge, said that the number was “about” even so each candidate will get the same number of delegate equivalents. Wrong!
One thing’s for sure, with my caucus being run the way it was, I would hate to see what an online caucus would look like. But that’s OK, we won’t be participating in a mess like this again.
