Kathy Jo Krezek Larson, 69, passed away early Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, at the Keystone Care Center.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials can be sent to Safe Haven of Iowa County.

Kathy was born on March 9, 1952, in Waterloo, the daughter of Edward and Ellen (Havran) Krezek. She graduated from North Tama High School. After graduating high school, she attended Iowa State University where she double majored in history and political science, with a minor in sociology. She graduated in 1974. On Aug. 26, 1972, she married the love of her life, David Larson.

Gardening was an important part of her life from the beginning, blossoming into a passion for growing and using herbs. This helped lead her to a job at Frontier Cooperative Herbs, including vice president of sustainability. She loved her pets, mushroom hunting, reading, walks in the woods, traveling and cooking. She (formally) became a Master Gardener after retirement and enjoyed working with the local group.

She is survived by her husband, David; sister, Sue (Dan) Sherman; brother, Edward (Cindy) Krezek; brothers-in-law, Dale (Sandy) Larson and Dan (Donna) Larson; sister-in-law, Barbra Larson; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; mother- and father-in-law, Alice and Harold Larson; and her best friend and sister-in-law, Donna Larson.
