Judy Brinkmeyer, 73, of Lone Tree, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, at The Bird House-Hospice Home of Johnson County. Visitation will be held from 4 to
7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Following the committal service at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion. Family requests, all who attend to please wear a mask due to COVID-19. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Judy. Judy Ann Wittenberg was born on Aug. 20, 1948, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of John Henry and Mildred Bertha (Hoth) Wittenberg. She was a graduate of West Central Maynard High School, and then received her Bachelor's degree in home economics education from the University of Northern Iowa. On July 7, 1973, Judy was united in marriage to John Brinkmeyer in Maynard, Iowa. She taught home economics at the Lone Tree High School. Judy was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree, National T.T.T. Society, was past Iowa State president of T.T.T. from 2005-2006 and the Chapter-AR of T.T.T. of Lone Tree. She volunteered at the Lone Tree Community School as a Reading Buddy for 20-plus years. Judy was on the 4H Council of Johnson County and later a 4H Judge across the State of Iowa. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, baking and her flower gardens but, most of all, she dearly loved to spend time with her family, especially the grandchildren.
Judy will be deeply missed by her husband, John of Lone Tree; children, Suzanne Brinkmeyer of Eau Claire, Wis., and Greg (Tracy) Brinkmeyer of Minneapolis, Minn.; two grandchildren, Cole and Drew Brinkmeyer; brother, Mike (Claire) Wittenberg of Eau Claire, Wis.; and sister, Jane (Robert) Halverson of West Union, Iowa.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Wittenberg; and sister, Marsha Wittenberg.
