Coralville’s Winterfest is Sunday at Iowa River Landing
Feb. 9, 2022 6:00 am
CORALVILLE — Coralville’s annual Winterfest is back. The free family-friendly event will take place at the Iowa River Landing on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Winterfest — a celebration of all things winter — is an opportunity for families to get out of the house and enjoy time together. Winterfest activities will take place throughout the Iowa River Landing, including at the Hyatt Regency Hotel & Conference Center, the Johnson County Historical Society Museum, Vesta and Backpocket Brewery.
Families are encouraged to come and experience the wonders of an Iowa winter through outdoor activities like horse-drawn carriage rides through the Iowa River Landing. Indoor activities include family caricature drawings, face painting, balloon animals and more. Quad Cities magician TJ Regul will be on-site to entertain children and parents along with live music by local artist Karl Hudson.
Outside organizations also will offer kid-friendly activities at the event. The Coralville Library will bring a photo booth, the Army Corps of Engineers will offer water safety tips, and Coralville Parks and Recreation will host an indoor snowball fight. The Johnson County Historical Society also will offer free entry into their museum, which is located next to the Xtream Arena.
Last Hope Animal Rescue will offer a new feature for this year’s event — an adoption booth. For families who have been thinking of expanding their households by welcoming a pet, this will be the perfect opportunity to support the local, nonprofit rescue.
Finally, the Iowa Heartlanders will host a ticket giveaway, with mascot Dash available for photos. Iowa River Landing businesses also will offer deals for Winterfest participants, including free kids’ root beers at Backpocket Brewing Co. and a wassail tasting at Vesta.
The event is sponsored by the City of Coralville, GreenState Credit Union, Hills Bank and Think Iowa City. To learn more, visit iowariverlanding.com/event/winterfest-2022.
